When they go skiing in Switzerland, Iris and Arthur White make an Italian scientist’s acquaintance. He is the inventor of a mysterious ray which can melt instantaneously ice field. For the White Company, it represents the ideal way to open new maritime roads directly via the Pole. The Soviets, worried to defend their supremacy in the Far North, strike back. They oblige the professor Riberov, a scientist sentenced to Gulag, to finalize a process which, conversely, will prevent the melting of ices. The White expedition turns into disaster. In Greenland, Arthur almost disappears within white bears and Iris gets lost in the Pole she managed to reach by airship. She will be rescued by the Soviets. After an incredible odyssey, the Adventurer and the professor Riberov, together, will win the Battle of the Pole.
