During a boat-race in England, Iris White becomes the friend of a Britannic novelist, Barbara Ackroyd, who obtained the manuscript of a Jesuit from the 16th century, the famous Da Pinci. From Venice to Jerusalem, from the Egyptian pyramids to the Burmese temples and from Himalaya to the heart of India, the Adventurer deciphers the hindu manuscript. It describes a vanished kingdom of which the 30’s Britannic empire claims to be the heir. Therefore Iris finds herself dragged into the plots which colonel Ackroyd, Barbara’s husband and officer in the Indies’ army, must prevent.
