Iris, the future Adventurer, spents her childhood in Saint-Petersburg, brought up on stories related by her French instructor and her mother, a Russian aristocrat. Alexis, the Tsarévitch, becomes her best friend. This fragile child, in order to thank her for playing with him, presents a box of twelve silver forks to her. During the October Revolution, Iris is on the barricades. Then, she enlists in the Red Army to defend the Homeland. But, facing horrors of civil war, she flees to Paris where a Russian taxi driver takes her in. In the Montparnasse of the Roaring Twenties, she is victim of a plot organized by some emigrants who want her imperial forks. She decides to leave for United-States where she exercises all kind of jobs. She meets her future husband, Arthur White, a rich American heir who has been hurt during the Great War in the trenches in the north of France. The Tsarevitch’s forks will be the cement of their union.
