Mohammed Ould Dié has stayed 6 years in France for a doctorate at Orsay faculty. From now on, he decides to go back home in Mauritany. He dreads this return to tradition. In his village, like in the rest of the country, there is still slavery. Mauritany is a country made of sand and stone and the rules are strict. The society is based on a hierarchical system. Officially the slavery is abolished but nevertheless it still exists. Like many brilliant young people of his generation, Mohammed has always wanted to speed up the course of their liberation.
