In the midst of the bush, in Burkina Faso, strange excavators upheave the earth. They dig innumerable tunnels in search of a metal which has always fascinated man: gold. These men delve deep into the earth, the children cart the ore and the women sift it. The mine in Koupela is reminiscent of the Far West and hundreds of families are stricken by gold fever- they dream of striking it lucky and finding the nugget which will finally make them rich.
