Venice and her gondoliers are world famous. This very special profession, however, has its own rites, codes and language. With Maurizio and Antonio, we are given a rare glimpse of this profession which has been handed down from father to son for generations. Maurizio is self-employed. Antonio, with forty gondoliers working for him, runs a small company and has year-to-year contracts with the world’s largest tour-operators. We follow Maurizio and Antonio behind the scenes, off the beaten track and far from the tourists.
