At the bottom of the Gulf of Bengal, the Sunderbans forest constitutes one of the world’s widest mangrove swamp, where the waters of the Ganges and Indian ocean meet and mix. The old Anil guides his dugout with case in the inextrical labyrinth of this aquatic forest. Placed on the bow of the craft, a bamboo cage is guarded and cared for with zeal. It contains all the wealth and assets of these bengali fishermen: domesticated but never tamed otters.
